Join us for 4 weekly sessions in an Introduction to Playback Theatre devoted to enhancing our creativity and play as we form a community of storytellers in action. Using Playback Theatre as the core, participants will learn how to use applied theatre to transform personal stories workshop participants tell into spontaneous theatre pieces using movement, ritual, music, and spoken improvisation. Participants will share their stories, learn to bring these stories to life, and discover the applications and settings of Playback Theatre. Stories are how we understand our world, who we are, where we have come from, and what we may have come through. These moments can be touchstones, full of power and significance. They are the glue that holds families, communities, and cultures together. This form of theatre develops intuition, insight, creativity, empathy, and effective communication skills and is used in many settings. This workshop is recommended for adults: no theatre experience is needed. Please wear loose clothing. Cost: Purchase all 4 for $120; or $40 drop in Jennie Kristel, MA, REAT, APTT, RMT, is an accredited Playback Theatre Trainer and Registered Expressive arts therapist trained in multiple forms of improvisation theatre and personal storytelling. She teaches at Lesley University and internationally about using Playback Theatre, expressive arts, theatre games, and improvisation to support people in understanding their deeper stories, resolving conflict, and helping build community.
