Join us for a 3-hour skill-building Introduction to Playback Theatre devoted to enhancing our creativity and play as we form a community of storytellers in action. Using Playback Theatre as the core, participants will learn how to use applied theatre to transform personal stories told by workshop participants into spontaneous theatre pieces using movement, ritual, music, and spoken improvisation.
Participants will share their stories and learn to bring these stories to life and learn the applications and settings for Playback Theatre.
Stories are how we understand our world, who we are, where we have come from, and what we may have come through. These moments of our lives can be touchstones, full of power and significance. They are the glue that holds families, communities, and cultures together. In the last 3 years, we have been tested by the pandemic and political strife. This is a time of sharing and coming together to play, engage and share our stories. Using this form of theatre develops intuition, insight, creativity, empathy, and effective communication skills and is used in many settings. This workshop is recommended for adults 16 and over: no theatre experience is needed. Please wear loose clothing.
